Instrumental Music

Welcome to all new and returning members of Innovation’s Band & Orchestra Program!

Students in the fourth and fifth grade have the opportunity to study a musical instrument during the school day. Students who select and register for the program will receive one 30-minute lesson per week on the instrument of their choice. Lesson times are scheduled in a manner to minimize academic conflicts. Students will, however, miss some academic instructional time and be responsible for completing missed work or instruction while attending the weekly instrumental lesson. Lesson times will rotate weekly so students will not be pulled from the same instructional period for their instrumental lesson.  Lessons are given on the following instruments: Flute, Clarinet, Alto Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, Baritone/Euphonium, Violin, Viola, Cello.

Students should spend 40 minutes per week in individual practice at home; we recommend 10 minutes, four times a week as a guide. Instrumental music is a full-year, graded elective class with required attendance to all lessons and performances.
