SOL Testing Information (grades 3, 4, & 5)

APS is preparing to administer the Virginia Standards of Learning (SOL) tests to students.  State assessments measure the extent to which students have learned the content and skills reflected in the state standards.  SOL content areas tested for each elementary grade levels are as follows:

• Grade 3: Reading and Math
• Grade 4: Reading, Math, and Social Studies
• Grade 5: Reading, Math, and Science

We will have one-day testing for each SOL.  This year, Innovation’s SOL tests will occur on the following dates:

• Wednesday, May 15 – Reading for grades 3, 4, & 5
  • make-up date: Friday, May 24
• Wednesday, May 22 – Science and Social Studies for grades 4 & 5
  • make-up date: Friday, May 31
• Wednesday, May 29 – Mathematics for grades 3, 4, & 5
  • make-up date: Thursday, June 6

Our teachers and students are working diligently to prepare for these tests. Please do not schedule time out of school for your student on their testing dates. It will help your student to perform at their best if they have a good night’s rest, eat a healthy breakfast, and arrive to school on time.  Assessments will begin first thing in the morning.  Students should bring a book or magazine to read once each test is complete.
