Emily Maniace

Emily Maniace began her career in education in 2015. She attended Roberts Wesleyan College for her undergraduate studies, and SUNY College at Brockport for her graduate degree. Emily loves reading fantasy, watching Star Wars, crocheting, embroidery, puzzles, and games.

Sarah McReynolds

Sarah McReynolds started her teaching career in 2010 after graduating from James Madison University. She enjoys watching her students grow and learn each year. Outside of school, Sarah enjoys hiking, camping, and gardening, and eating her favorite foods -- pizza or tacos.

Astrid Alvarez Gomez

Astrid Alvarez Gomez began teaching in Columbia in 2007 and in 2024 in the United States. She graduated from The National Pedagogic University (Bogotá, Colombia) with a degree in Special Education in 2006, earned a Graduate Certificate from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2004, and is currently finishing a Master's degree in Special Education from Virginia Commonwealth University. Her favorite part about teaching is watching the moment when a student finally grasps a challenging concept, because she finds it incredibly rewarding to see their eyes light up with understanding and to witness their confidence grow. Astrid's favorite thing to do outside of school is spend time with her husband and twin daughters. She also loves hiking, reading books, cooking/baking, photography, dancing, and traveling to explore new places.

Lizzie Rubio

Lizzie Rubio began teaching in 2015 after earning a Master's of Arts in Teaching English as a Second Language from the University of North Carolina-Wilmington. She enjoys using various resources and strategies to support multilingual learners and linking the learning to students' cultural and linguistic backgrounds. Outside of school, Lizzie frequently can be found baking, especially with her favorite ingredient: chocolate. Lizzie is bilingual in English and Spanish and enjoys folkloric dance.
