MIPA

Multi-Intervention Program for Students with Autism (MIPA)

The focus of the countywide MIPA program is on increasing communication, independent life skills, social skills, and academic performance. Students who are receiving special education support due to autism may be candidates for the MIPA program. The program provides a highly structured environment and research-based academic and behavioral interventions for autism. The program uses a variety of strategies to prepare students to transition to less restrictive settings. Examples of curricula used in MIPA classes include the STAR Program (Strategies for Teaching based on Autism Research, Arick, Loos, Falco, Krug, 2004) and the Links Curriculum. Innovation is proud to enroll students in our MIPA classroom with Ms. Risinger, Ms. Fatima, and Ms. Tyler.

Emilee Risinger

Emilee Risinger began teaching in 2021 after graduating with a Bachelor's in Early Childhood and Special Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and Masters in Special Education with a concentration in Autism Spectrum Disorders from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania. She believes the best part of her job is witnessing the amazing progress her students make as they learn and grow. Outside of school, she enjoys spending time with family and friends and reading (her favorite book is "Out of My Mind" by Sharon Draper). She also loves to eat ice cream, preferably while in the company of her boyfriend and two dogs.
